What is respite? Respite is simply a break. In this case, volunteers provide short-term relief for caregivers of older adults and people with disabilities. Volunteers will be trained, mentored and supported, and could move from a stipend program to a paid respite workforce if they choose.
Our AmeriCorps Senior Demonstration Program aims to recruit, train and place AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers in respite-related positions throughout Oneida, Herkimer, Cortland, Tompkins, Lewis, and Jefferson Counties in New York State.
